Yet again the summer is nearly upon us and it will soon be time for the Haddenham Real Ale Festival, which this year will be even bigger and better than before. Each year this festival has grown and each year we keep increasing the amount of beer and other drinks on offer in order to try and stop running out but as yet we have failed in this endeavour, although last year we were able to draft in some emergency supplies so we had beer until the last band had finished. After a tense contest over 27 holes at Burford Golf Club in Oxfordshire on the 9th April, the Bertie Cup finally returned home to the Kings Head team of Haddenham. (more…)

On Saturday a new micro brewery was opened in Thame by Ken Bruce of Radio 2 fame. The Cross keys, which is owned by Oak Taverns, have built the brewery in the back of the pub and the first brew was Mrs. Tipple’s Ghost which Martyn Broughton of the Haddenham Real Ale Festival committee described as “a fusion of pale, crystal, munich & chocolate malt with Fuggles and Goldings hops providing a rich slightly sweet flavoured ale.” (more…)

There is nothing like a local event to help focus the marketing mind. Raising funds for local organisations and charities is often more challenging than paid work, but a positive outcome leads to a great feeling of a job well done. (more…)

Last week I gave a lecture to 2nd year marketing undergraduates at Oxford Brookes University.
