Many marketing departments are currently looking at ways to improve their search engine rankings but often treat paid search such as Google Adwords as a completely separate function than Search Engine Optimisation and in many cases budgets for both functions are separated. This however is the correct way to look at these, adwords may be an advert but SEO when done properly is also an advert it is just targeted using free listings not paid for ones. (more…)

How to run a successful video campaign

Video marketing is one of the new growth areas for marketing campaigns and a report released in 2009 by eMarketer indicates that the UK online video viewing audience grew by 10 percent to almost 30 million unique viewers and with YouTube being the second most popular search engine behind Google this figure will only continue to grow. These figures only touch part of the market place as the growth of smart phones has meant that videos are now available on the move and with Apple selling over 17 million iphones and ipods in 2009 there is a huge audience waiting to be tapped into. Are changes required in SEO strategy for Bing?

Bing although still relatively new is gaining market share from Google (searches for October were up 7%) and as a result it is important to understand the changes needed to an SEO strategy to ensure you are well placed on this search engine as well.

Bing has different algorithms from Google but even so they both still look for good content which is in context and relevant links so it is not so much that they search differently but that they display their results differently which is the important difference. (more…)

When you consider the energy saving using a dishwasher instead of washing up by hand is the same as boiling a kettle 7 times, and the difference in water saving is equivalent to 200 showers every year, you quickly realise that standing at the sink doing the dishes is a whole lot of wasted money down the drain.
